Rebecca Newsom is Political Campaigner at Greenpeace, and recently completed her Masters at SOAS in Environment, Politics and Development. Her talk focuses on her experiences of campaigning for fossil fuel divestment at SOAS, and how this, other grassroots campaigning, and what she learnt on her Masters led to her current role at Greenpeace. Before and during her masters, Rebecca was a Project Manager at Tellus Mater, a charitable foundation promoting sustainable finance; a Campaign Manager at ShareAction, where she worked on campaigns to promote shareholder activism and increase corporate accountability; and a Senior Account Manager at PLMR, a communications agency with clients in the education, renewable energy, and health and social care sectors. She is also Chair of Trustees for Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope, a charity supporting child amputees in West Africa and India.
