MSc Migration, Mobility and Development, 2009-2010
I’ve always been interested in migration and, when I saw that SOAS had an MSc on this topic, I signed up straight away. SOAS has always stood out for me as a place to study due to its interdisciplinary and contextually grounded approach to teaching. The Department of Development Studies also benefits from world-leading migration specialists engaged in an array of innovative research projects.
The highlight of my degree was writing my dissertation. It was a chance to draw on everything that I had studied throughout the year, and to delve deeper into an area that I found particularly interesting. I chose to write my dissertation on mobility in refugee situations.
After working in a variety of roles for UNICEF, World Food Programme and other organisations in East Africa and the UK, I decided to come back to SOAS to pursue a PhD in Development Studies, researching environment and migration in the Horn of Africa.
