Climate Change
The profile of climate change is rapidly growing worldwide as the effects of this phenomenon are becoming more prominent.
SOAS University of London is responding by increasing efforts in environmental and climate–related research and teaching, led by our internationally recognised climate scholars. At the forefront of this expansion are the two new MSc programmes we are offering by online and distance learning (one of which is also available on-campus).

MSc Economics with reference to Environment and Development MSc Environment, Politics and Development LLM in Environmental Law MA in Environmental Law and Sustainable Development MSc Global Energy and Climate Policy |
The MSc Climate Change and Development is run by the Centre for Development, Environment and Policy (CeDEP). It offers students a thorough grounding in how current development models produce environmental problems, like climate change, which then threaten the objectives of development, and critical insight into the prospects for re-working current development trajectories. Through interdisciplinary perspectives which survey, theoretically and empirically, the science of climate change, adaptation and mitigation, students will acquire the knowledge and analytical skills required for critically engaging with and changing development policy and practice.
The online MSc Global Energy and Climate Policy provides students with a detailed understanding of the transformative change in energy systems now under way around the world and equips them with the knowledge and skills needed to play a part in it. The MSc’s focus is on policy and policymaking in the energy and climate space as the key to enabling change and creating the requisite legal and regulatory environment within which the low-carbon energy system of the future can develop and grow.
