MSc in Environmental Management
Environmental Management is an important discipline related to investment decisions. By learning more about the environment and how to value impacts, mitigate and manage risks, it enhances my analytical skills as a portfolio manager. In other words, it helps to better understand potential risks for companies and investors as well as significant opportunities of future revenue growth driven by regulatory changes and best practices. In the asset management industry, people often approach environmental risks with third party research or sometimes even with simplified mechanical checklists. Both approaches are inferior to developing a thorough knowledge in the area personally.
The knowledge gained has helped me by improving both the skills and quality of my work. In some subjects, I can go into a much deeper detail and understand issues that I would not have recognised prior to joining the programme. Now I know what to look at and where to find it. At the same time, the programme is rewarding because it opens the doors of new knowledge libraries.
