Please note that from 15 September 2019 all doctoral researchers submit their examination forms and thesis on PhD Manager.

Please note that paper forms should only be used if you submitted your thesis for examination before 15 September 2019.
- SOAS Examination Entry Form (msword; 56kb) or SOAS Examination Entry Form (pdf; 67kb) - form to be submitted two months prior to the submission of the thesis
- SOAS Examination Entry Form (Following Re-Entry) (msword; 59kb) or SOAS Examination Entry Form (Following Re-Entry) (pdf; 76kb) - form to be submitted two months prior to the resubmission of the thesis
- SOAS Thesis Submission Form (msword; 62kb) or SOAS Thesis Submission Form (pdf; 115kb) - form to be submitted with the thesis (first submission, before viva)
- CASDES Application (msword; 64kb) - Doctorate Extension Scheme Application Form for PhD students holding a Tier 4 visa
- RCUK Funded Students: Electronic Thesis Agreement Form (pdf; 80kb) - form to be submitted by RCUK-funded students who need to make their thesis Open Access no later than 12 months after award.
- RCUK_OpenAccess_Guidance_PhD_Students (pdf; 112kb) - for RCUK-funded students who need to make their work Open Access no later than 12 months after award.
- SOAS PhD Embargo Request Form (msword; 75kb) or SOAS PhD Embargo Request Form (pdf; 66kb) - to request a full embargo on your thesis, meaning your thesis will not be available both in print in SOAS Research and online in SOAS Research Online’ Full embargos will only be applied after consideration by the Research Ethics Panel and in exceptional circumstances. This form should be submitted as early as you think there may be a reason your thesis needs to be fully embargoed and prior to submission of your thesis.
Candidates initially enrolled for their SOAS research degree before September 2016

- SOAS Electronic Thesis Agreement Form (msword; 69kb) or SOAS Electronic Thesis Agreement Form (pdf; 80kb) - form to be submitted with the final hardbound copy of the thesis and the electronic copy
Candidates initially enrolled for their SOAS research degree after September 2016

The regulations and guidance above is for students submitting their thesis for examination from 23rd September 2013.
