Introduction to your Sustainability Manager – Ola Bankole

Ola Bankole is the Sustainability Manager for SOAS. This is a shared role across the Bloomsbury Colleges. This role was set up to encourage more sustainable behaviours across the colleges and to assist in meeting the strict targets set by the HEFCE, for example, reducing carbon emissions by 48% by 2020. 2020 is fast approaching and reducing the College’s carbon emissions is a huge challenge, requiring staff and students to all work together.

One of the ways SOAS is working towards sustainability is through the Sustainability Group. This is a group of staff and student reps who are passionate about improving and protecting the environment. The group initiate and work on projects to make real differences within the college. Ola is part of this group and welcomes any other staff who are interested in the environment or want to know more about the group to contact Delia Gadea, our Sustainability Officer for the Bloomsbury Colleges Group, at greenthing@bloomsbury.ac.uk
