If you are ineligible for award because you have failed one or more of your courses, you will be automatically re-entered to sit any failed examination and re-submit any failed coursework (provided it is repeatable), at the next available occasion.
For examinations, this is the School Summer examination period in May/ June 2020 (provisionally scheduled to run from 6 May to 3 June 2020) and for coursework, it is the last day of Term 2 in 2019/20 (i.e. 20 March 2020).
Undergraduate students who have failed a course overall, may enter to be re-assessed for that course on no more than two occasions. The opportunity to resit is subject to a student remaining within the time limit for completion of their degree, unless there are accepted mitigating circumstances.
The overall mark for any course you have re-entered for will be capped at 40%, unless your absence from an examination and/ or non-submission of course work was deemed to be with good cause, i.e. you submitted evidence of mitigating circumstances for consideration by the relevant Mitigating Circumstances Panel and you have been informed that this was accepted.

"Students who are resitting failed coursework must complete new coursework for the module and must not re-use assignments which have been submitted previously for that or any other module. Re-using work in this way is known as self-plagiarism and is a breach of the School’s Academic Misconduct Policy. The exception to this will be for Independent Study Projects and postgraduate dissertations which can be revised for resubmission"

All re-entry essays will be due by the last day of Term 2 of the following year (i.e. 20 March 2020).
You will need to contact your Department Office for any further information on essay titles and submission procedures.

This will show as NRGC next to the relevant element of assessment on the Online Student Services.
Please note that if you have already passed a course, you cannot be re-assessed in any element to improve your overall mark unless you have approved mitigation for any element (i.e. you submitted evidence of mitigating circumstances through SID and you have been informed that this was accepted), in which case you may re-enter for assessment for that element only, provided it is deemed repeatable.
It may be possible for you to sit exams overseas. This will be organised through the University of London (UoL) who will charge an additional administration fee. The UoL deadline to apply is 1st February 2020. First, you should check to see if there is a UoL exam centre in your area and then contact the UoL via the following form
"Where a student has failed all or part of a year of study or wishes to undertake additional new modules to enable a programme transfer, they can apply to repeat the year on either a full-time or part-time basis depending on how many modules they have passed in the previous year or are required to become compliant with their new programme specification."

You may not repeat any course that you have already passed and you must follow any courses that are core and/ or compulsory for your programme.
To apply to repeat study, please:
- Log into SID using your SOAS ID & password (SID can be found via the main SOAS website or MySOAS)
- Select 'Request a Service'
- Select Enrolment: Programme Changes
- Select Repeat Year of Study
