About this event

Dr. Carol Mann

Norms of acceptable gendered behaviour have been subject to shifts and transmutations in Afghanistan that have been accelerated since the fall of the Taliban and the mass return of refugees. Counter models have been provided by a variety of sources as a result of war, migration and globalization. Humanitarian aid, human rights, the media, Iranian society as well transnational fundamentalist Islam have challenged seemingly traditional stereotypes in ways that deserve further reflection.
