Graduate Destinations
The Centre for Global Media and Communications (previously the Centre for Media Studies) at SOAS provides students with critical skills to follow a career in journalism, the arts or a more general graduate job. With a degree in Media Studies graduates have the foundations to work in a range of media related jobs such as news organisations, non-governmental agencies, United Nations organisations, marketing companies, public relations, press offices, publishing and media production. With the special focus on the Global South, graduates have the extra knowledge and skill to work in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
A degree from the Centre for Global Media and Communications provides students with a number of transferable skills that can be applied to other types of professions. These include: research skills; written and oral communication skills; visual analysis and specialist subject knowledge of media industries, media consumption and production in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Former students have gone on to employment in a range of professional roles in business and public sectors, as well as continuing in the field of research either at SOAS or other institutions.
