The Certificate in Ancient Near Eastern Studies is based on the first year of the BA programme in Ancient Near Eastern Studies (ANES). If applicants plan to take the Certificate on a part-time basis from 2018 can you please contact the Programme Convenor, Mark Weeden to discuss your options. There is a one year, full-time option available for entry in 2019.
Students study part time (two or three years). 120 credits must be undertaken and passed to gain the certificate. Generally, modules to the value of 60 credits are taken at SOAS and modules to the value of 60 credits are taken at UCL.

Teaching & Learning
Courses are taught during the day. Teaching begins in late September. Examinations are in May-June.
Modules in Akkadian and Sumerian are taught by Andrew George and Mark Weeden, Modules in Hittite are taught by Mark Weeden. Students can also take History Modules at UCL taught by Eleanor Robson and Yağmur Heffron, or relevant Archaeology Modules taught in UCL Institute of Archaeology, as well as Hebrew in the Department of Hebrew and Jewish Studies.
