The Project held a three-day international meeting in London in February 2002, which was attended by lawyers, scholars and activists from Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, India, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Pakistan, the UK and the USA. The meeting covered a broad and extensive range of issues relating to 'honour crimes' including the increasing recognition of 'crimes of honour' internationally and nationally over the past few years; the emerging recognition of 'honour crimes' as human rights violations; and the continuing nature of the problem and future strategies for addressing 'honour crimes'. Partners from Bangladesh, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Pakistan, Jordan, Turkey and the UK as well as Brazil, Italy and India presented the work done on the Project so far. A compilation of background papers, discussion transcripts and papers produced for presentation at the meeting will be published in the near future.
