Launch of 'Honour': Crimes, Paradigms and Violence against Women

CIMEL and INTERIGHTS hosted a reception to launch the Project publication, 'Honour': Crimes, Paradigms and Violence against Women, edited by the Project Directors Sara Hossain and Lynn Welchman, and published by Zed Press.

Held on 30 January at London's School of Oriental and African Studies, the event was attended by about 100 lawyers, activists, academics, policy makers and representatives from civil society. Speakers included Pragna Patel from Southall Black Sisters, an NGO campaigning against domestic violence; Gita Sahgal, Head of the Gender Unit at Amnesty International and director of a 2003 documentary on the issue of 'honour crimes', Love Snatched...; Sara Hossain and Lynn Welchman.

The launch was supported by a generous donation from Two Garden Court Chambers, London.
