What is the Student Hub?

The Student Hub is here to support you throughout your studies and the team are available to answer your queries about your study at SOAS. Come and speak to our friendly team who can advise you on a range of matters and let you know where to find specialist advice. We can help you with:

  • Requesting student letters
  • Signing off forms
  • Mitigating Circumstances advice
  • Finding out about health and wellbeing
  • Getting a student ID card
  • Enrolment queries
  • International student questions
  • Making appeals and complaints

How to contact us
Student Hub Appointments

The Student Hub team are offering 15-minute virtual appointments Monday, Wednesday and Friday. To book an appointment, please visit My SOAS Student. When booking, please include your student ID number and a brief description of your enquiry.

You will be able to submit all request via Student Information Desk (SID)  as well as in person queries.

You will also be able to contact the hub by telephone on 0207 074 5100.

Student letters

Student Hub provide letters for confirmation of enrolment, council tax exemption, opening a bank account, completion letters and applying for a Schengen visa. A confirmation of enrolment letter is signed and stamped on headed paper and contains the following information,

  • Your personal details
  • Name of your degree
  • Your programme start and end dates
  • Full time or part time study
  • Your term time and home address

A completion letter will additionally contain the following,

  • When you were awarded your degree
  • The overall grade you received for your degree

Please note that the Certificate Letters will not have marks or grades on them. The Hub is not able to provide interim transcripts or letters containing marks. Registry will be able to provide transcripts once marks have been ratified by exam boards after the publication of results. Who can have a student letter?

We provide letters for current Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree students and for former students.

If you are a doctoral student please contact and if you are a distance learning student please contact for your letters.

How to request a letter

You can request a letter by emailing by making a request via the Student Information Desk (SID)

How can I get a transcript or degree certificate?

Transcripts and degree certificates are provided by the exams department, for more information please see Transcripts and Certificates

How to find us
The Student Hub is located on the lower ground floor of the Paul Webley Wing in Senate House North Block. Please see map of all SOAS buildings. You can also see the campus virtually, via SOAS Virtual Campus Experience.
Opening hours

The Student Hub team are operating 9am – 5pm.
