ICC - Undergraduate Student Destinations

Updated 16 October 2019

Congratulations to our 2018-19 ICC students who performed even better than the 2017-18 cohort. 81 students completed out of 90 starters. There were 24 Distinctions, 24 Merits and just 6 Fails, so almost 60% of students achieved a Merit score or better.

Having applied to almost 50 universities and received offers from more 40, the students progressed to 19 different UK universities.

SOAS received 29 students on 21 different degrees, covering subjects as diverse as Accounting and Finance, Management, Economics, Development Studies, Politics/IR, History, Anthropology and Art. Students went on to a range of degrees with a language/regional/cultural focus including the Middle East, Arabic, Japan, Japanese language and Hebrew. 12 students took advantage of SOAS’ flexible degree structure to choose two subject degrees (such as Law and Development Studies, Social Anthropology, Japanese and Politics and International Relations) from the 300+ combinations available.

After SOAS, UCL was the next most popular destination, with 9 students progressing, followed by King’s with 5. Outside London, Manchester and Durham were favourites with large numbers of applications and students enrolling.

In total, more than 70% of students were placed in the University of London and over 90% of students were able to stay at SOAS or progress to a UK Top 30 University (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020).
