Living wage

Disclosure date: 8 January 2014

Reference: FOI2014/001

I am looking to find out as much detail and information as possible on the number of people who are employed on a rate below the living wage (£7.65p/h). My main questions are as follows:

  • How many people are currently employed by the university at a rate of less than £7.65 per hour?
  • What percentage does this make up of the overall workforce of the university?
  • What grade of workers do those earning less than £7.65 per hour fall into?
  • I also wish to see any communications, whether discussions, minutes of meetings, emails or otherwise on the Living Wage

As a London Living Wage employer SOAS does not employ anybody at less than the London Living Wage - currently £8.80 per hour.

As a result the answer is “nil” to the first three questions, and the last question is therefore not relevant.
