Please find attached the minutes for the most recent Senior Staff Remuneration Committee (4 July 2013).
Some information has been redacted (blacked out) or omitted from the minutes as it constitutes personal data, the disclosure of which would be unfair and unlawful and therefore a breach of the Data Protection Act. Such information is exempt from disclosure under section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act. This is an absolute exemption which means that there is no need to take into account any public interest arguments for or against disclosure.
The Director’s remuneration is published in the SOAS Annual Review and Financial Statements (http://www.soas.ac.uk/annualreview/), along with the number of staff members earning over £100,000 and their salaries in bands of £10,000. This is in accordance with the Information Commissioner's guidance on the level of information that he would expect universities to provide in order to meet their commitments under the Freedom of Information model publication scheme (see page 4 of: http://ico.org.uk/for_organisations/freedom_of_information/~/media/documents/library/Freedom_of_Information/Detailed_specialist_guides/definition_document_for_universities_and_higher_education_institutions.pdf).
