Terms and Conditions for All Accredited Programmes

Terms and Conditions for All Accredited Programmes

Fees:

Fees for academic year 2017-2018 are effective for all courses starting from 1st August 2017 and are not subject to V.A.T.

Fees for all accredited programme are exclusive of programme materials.

Payment in instalments is only accepted from Home/EU students for full-time Certificate and Diploma programmes, with the instalments specified in the webpage information.

Corporate Payments:

Sponsors must supply an official purchase order or a letter confirming that the company will be responsible for payment of the student’s fees. An invoice will be issued and must be paid by the start of the programme.

Failure to do comply with the above may result in withdrawal of a student from the programme and/or the student becoming liable for payment immediately.

Withdrawal from Programmes:

We strongly advise you to ensure that you will be able to attend every day for the whole of the programme duration before enrolling. SOAS Language Centre cannot accept any responsibility for unforeseen changes in students’ circumstances that may prevent their attendance for all or part of a programme.

No refunds can be given for classes not attended and students are reminded that there is an 80% attendance requirement for successful completion of an accredited programme.

All cancellations of enrolment must be received in writing (including email) by the Language Centre at least 20 working days before the start of the programme. In exceptional cases, refunds may be given at the discretion of the Language Centre Director and with 10% of the total programme fee deducted for administrative costs. Refunds will be returned in the same way as the payment was made. Please note that the refund procedure may take up to four weeks to complete.

Quorum Requirements:

Our accredited programmes are subject to quorum requirements and, normally, a minimum of 8 students per programme (Certificate or Diploma) are required for it to run.

If the programme does not reach the quorum number in any term, the course may not run. In such a case, the Language Centre Administrator will inform applicants, normally within 10 days before the start of the programme, and advise them as to alternative language study options.

General:

Our accredited programme classes are limited to a maximum of 16 students per class.

Accredited programmes are only for learners aged 18 and over.

We strongly advise you to enrol and pay at least a month before the start date as places are allocated on a ‘first come’ basis. Places cannot be reserved in advance without payment.

Overseas students are responsible for ensuring that they have the correct Study Visa for the entire duration of the programme. Non-compliance with visa regulations will be reported to the UK Home Office.

Students undertake to abide by the SOAS Code of conduct - Student Disciplinary Procedure 2012/13 (pdf; 143kb) at all times.

These terms and conditions may be subject to change without prior notice.
