Korean Pre-Intermediate Course

Mode of Attendance: Part-time

Fees: Course fees quoted are per term of 10 weeks.

The course aims to consolidate and to improve the skills acquired on the Elementary course or similar courses, and to develop communicative skills in a wide range of contexts enabling the student to effectively interact in informal and formal situations with spoken and written language.

This course will cover:

  • various situational conversations
  • a wide range of vocabulary, phrases and more complex structures through plenty of pattern practice
  • listening comprehension with audio and video materials.
Method

The course is taught in English and Korean and includes coverage of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and a good balance between understanding the systems of Korean grammar and vocabulary, developing the skills of comprehending and producing Korean in speech and writing, guided practice in language usage and use and authentic communicative activities.

Entry Requirements and Progression Route

To be able to join Korean Pre-Intermediate course you should have completed a Korean Elementary at SOAS Language Centre or have an equivalent knowledge of guided learning hours (approximately 120 hours). The progression route from Korean Pre-Intermediate 1 is to Korean Pre-Intermediate 2; from Pre-Intermediate 2 to Pre-Intermediate 3. Upon successful completion of Korean Pre-Intermediate 3 you will be able to progress to an Intermediate level course in Korean.
