Mode of Attendance: Part-time

Turkish Pre-Intermediate aims to build on the knowledge and skills acquired in Turkish Elementary to prepare the learners to comprehend and discuss more complex texts and make translations. Grammar and vocabulary will develop through theme-based discovery method which will encourage learners to use the grammar to express themselves and to handle discussions. The course is taught in English and Turkish and apart from the course book, authentic material such as news from newspapers, articles, poems, songs, videos and short films will also be used. In the class, the learners are encouraged to interact with each other using Turkish, practising the structure and lexical items learnt in pairs or in small groups. Their communicative skills will also improve through short presentations which they will research and prepare outside the classroom. The reading and writing skills are reinforced and developed further through reading and writing practices and translations. They will also be able to write short passages using the vocabulary and structures they have learned by the end of the course.

Materials: E. Çakır, & A.B. Akça. (2018) Turkish Tutor Grammar and Vocabulary Workbook. Great Britain: Hodder& Stoughton. Supplemented by additional literary materials, provided by the teacher.
