SOAS Refugee Law Clinic
A unique opportunity for SOAS law students to gain practical experience in refugee law.
SOAS is one of the ten participating member institutions of the newly established Refugee Law Clinic of the University of London. The Clinic offers 5 SOAS law students (3rd year undergraduate, LLM/MA students) the opportunity to engage in clinical work in the field of asylum law under the direct supervision of a lawyer. For the academic year 2020/2021, the Clinic will commence in October 2020, with a time commitment of around four hours per week for a year.
Students expressing an interest will be selected by the School of Law focal points for the Clinic, Dr. Lutz Oette (email@example.com) and Dr. Clara Della Croce (firstname.lastname@example.org),
based on the following criteria:
- Taking modules in relevant subjects (human rights modules; asylum and immigration law; refugee and migration law modules)
- Motivation and commitment to engage in Clinic (expected time commitment of around half a day per week for one year)
- Link of Clinic participation to future career plans (further studies, working in the field etc.)
How to apply: Please submit an expression of interest of around 500 words, and your Curriculum Vitae, by 5 October 2020, 12pm GMT, to Dr. Lutz Oette, at email@example.com.
Further information about the Clinic can be found at Refugee Law Initiative. Dr. Lutz Oette, Director of the SOAS Centre for Human Rights Law, represents the SOAS School of Law on the Refugee Law Clinic's Governing Board.
