EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS)
EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) will replace PrimoCentral this academic year (15/16), as SOAS' resource discovery tool. EBSCO Discovery Service allows you to search across a wide range of databases, e-journals, e-books and more.
EBSCO, the makers of EDS, are partners in the SOAS' new Library management system (Kuali OLE). This enables us to easily integrate EDS into the Library system and catalogue for a more seamless search experience. EDS includes many more of SOAS' subscription databases for you to search across - notably a range of Chinese, Japanese & Korean language databases. EBSCO also host much of the full-text e-journal content available at SOAS, so many articles can be downloaded right in EDS without the need to link out to other websites.
You can go direct to EDS:http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,shib&custid=s8438947&profile=eds
or you'll find a handy search box embedded right in the Library catalogue (in 'Online resources/articles'):
https://library.soas.ac.uk/which allows you to search either for SOAS' print holdings or e-resources from the same place.
Access and authentication
EDS is available to all Library users on-campus. Current SOAS students and staff can also access EDS off-campus. A SOAS id and password are required for off-campus use.
If you would like any help with EDS please ask at the Library Enquiry Desk, Room E10, Level E (8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday). You can also get help by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
EBSCO also have a range of tutorials which guide you through using EDS:
