This section of the web pages has been designed to answer any questions you may have about admission to the library whether you would like to use the library for one day or one year.
Please select an option from the menu on the left or the table below for more information.
Restricted Access for Student Registration
Please note that there will be restricted access to SOAS Library to facilitate the student registration process from Monday 25th September to Saturday 7th October 2017 (inclusive).
- Only existing cardholders will be allowed to enter the Library
- We will neither be renewing old nor creating new membership cards; including:
- University of London staff and students
- SCONUL Access
- All other external users
The Archives and Special Collection Reading Room will be closed from 25th September reopening Monday 2nd October.
Normal membership services will resume on Monday 9th October 2017. However, there will be a limited enquiry service by email and telephone.
Additionally, there will be no collections from Closed Access during this period.
Cardholders are advised to bring their cards with them as no Day Passes will be offered.
Please note that we are unable to accommodate guests of staff, students or visitors due to demand for Library space. During some open days and Welcome Week, however, we may be able to accommodate guests of SOAS staff and students if space and staffing allows.
Please read Information for all Library visitors before applying to join SOAS Library.
Please read the information on our website and ensure that you are paying for the right membership to avoid additional costs as we do not issue refunds for cancelled membership.
We will charge the full price for “Borrowing Membership” even if you already have a “Reference Membership” as our payment structure will not permit such upgrades. This applies to all membership types without exception.
