When the Endangered Alphabets Project was launched in 2010, its aim was to raise awareness of the global issue of script loss and cultural erosion. In the past four years, that mission has expanded to try to help a variety of indigenous and minority groups revive their own written and spoken languages. Is such revival possible--and if so, how?
About the speaker
Tim Brookes was born and educated in the UK and has lived in the US since 1980. His Endangered Alphabets carvings have been displayed at Cambridge, SOAS, Yale, Harvard, First Nations University, the Smithsonian Institution, and other colleges, universities, galleries and libraries across North America and Europe.
