Homeschool Grammar

Free grammar resources for children aged 8-12.

Homeschool Grammar is a set of grammar videos and fun linguistic activities giving children the chance to explore key grammatical concepts through a variety of the world’s languages, including English, UK heritage languages, famous historical languages and artificial languages!

Resources follow the UK Key Stage 2 grammar curriculum and aim to support parents, carers and teachers of children homeschooled during the Covid-19 crisis as well as foster an interest in studying languages and cultures from the wider world.

  • Activities are made to be accessible to all children in the age group and can be performed by them independently. They contain information about the language(s) investigated, definitions of relevant grammatical concepts, and one or more problem set or games with answers.

  • Each activity can be downloaded from a computer, tablet or smartphone and can be performed offline (children will need old fashioned pens and paper!).

  • The project is led by Dr. Aicha Belkadi, who has been researching and lecturing on the grammar of English and other languages in the SOAS department of Linguistics for several years. For more information or queries, email
