A day of cultural events celebrating Palestine. Highlights include (unless stated otherwise all events are free to attend and open to all with no prior registration required):

11.30am (all day in the Brunei Suite) Palestine Day Market with stalls selling Palestinian products from Chachoulie, Eastern Adornment,
Haringey Justice for PalestiniansNH OlivewoodSEP, Souk, and Zaytoun CIC and book stalls from ALEF Bookstores, I.B. Tauris and Saqi Books. Freshly made falafel wraps from Beirut Kitchen available to buy from their stall outside the Brunei Gallery.

12.00pm (Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre) Film Screening: Speed Sisters Dir Amber Fares (2015), 78 mins. Documentary following the first all-woman race car driving team in the Middle East. Grabbing headlines and turning heads at improvised tracks across the West Bank,  five women have speed their way into the heart of the gritty, male-dominated Palestinian street car-racing scene. Introduced by Akanksha Mehta, University of Sussex and Centre for Gender Studies, SOAS. 

2.00pm (Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre) Panel Discussion Where is Palestine Going? with Adam Hanieh (SOAS), Karma Nabulsi (Oxford) and Sir Vincent Fean (former UK Consul-General in Jerusalem). Chair: Gilbert Achcar, SOAS.

4.00pm (Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre) Film Screening: Rough Stage Dir Toomas Järvet (2015), 74 mins. Documentary film by Estonian director Toomas Järvet. A Palestinian man dreams of putting on a contemporary dance performance in Ramallah. Followed by Q&A with the director Toomas Järvet. Chair: Julianne Rooney, Frontline Club. 5.30pm (Brunei Suite) Cash Bar and Evening Stand Up Comedy from Jenan Younis, comedian of Palestinian descent from the London circuit.
