A talk by Luca Nevola on his field research in a village of Sayyids outside of Sana'a in 2014. He experienced the time of the Huthi ascent to power and the reaction in the village to the arrival of the Huthis. He will illustrate his talk with field photographs. 

Luca Nevola holds a PhD degree in socio-cultural anthropology from the University of Milano-Bicocca. Since 2009 he has undertaken several periods of fieldwork research in northern Yemen, especially in Beny Matar and in the Old City of Sana'a. His PhD thesis examines the role of genealogical constructs in essentialising professional caste groups in the Yemen highlands.
