The Spring Symposium, one of BATAS’s two regular annual events, aims to bring together a diverse range of topics relating to Turkey and its cultural/geopolitical area; this year history, architecture, music, religion and current affairs are all represented.

The speakers are as follows:

Bill Park (KCL) - The Kurdish issue
Dr Tim Stanley (V&A) - Iznik tiles
Dr Gül Berna Özcan (Royal Holloway)  - The AKP government and business
Professor Daniela Berghahn (Royal Holloway) - Turkish-German cinema

2018 Symposium Programme

Symposium admission charges: Full-time students (whether BATAS members or not) free, other BATAS members £3, non-members £10.

* Payment for coffee/tea (with biscuits) will be by ticket only, obtainable at registration for £2 per person per session.
