If you are learning a language at SOAS* we offer a series of workshops, one-to-one tutorials and online resources to help you develop your language learning skills.
Study skills online

Scroll down to our language learning section where you will find information and tips on vocabulary, grammar and language learning strategies.
We provide a range of language learning skills workshops which are aimed at helping you develop your skills. Our workshop schedule is subject to change. Please check the website for the most up-to-date information.
One-to-one language advising tutorials
Need some help with your language learning? Want to find out more about how to motivate yourself from a trained one-to-one tutor?
Come along to a one-to-one language advising tutorial to get free individual help and advice where you can have your questions answered. Topics covered include:
• Tips for learning vocabulary in another language
• Strategies for becoming a more independent language learner
• Advice on coping with grammar
• Information on keeping yourself motivated
• Ideas for coping with different scripts
• Techniques for keeping a conversation going
Our tutorials are delivered by trained tutors who are PhD students at SOAS. Tutorials last for 30 minutes and can be booked by coming into the Learning and Teaching Development Office (located in room RG01, opposite the main staircase) in person with a £5 returnable deposit.
We are also happy to offer language advising tutorials via Skype to SOAS students who are abroad.
