Using Drama in Language Learning

Some research suggests that the use of drama in the teaching and learning of languages can provide interesting ways of motivating language learners and teachers. The Languages of the Wider World CETL invites you to a day of seminars and workshops to explore these ideas further. The day will bring together practitioners, researchers and students from a variety of fields to share and discuss their experiences and techniques in the use of drama for language teaching and learning.13 November 2009, Vernon Square, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Drama and Language Learning Day A Multi-Stakeholder Workshop and Seminar

Stakeholder event in support of the ‘Mapping Provision and Matching Needs of Community Language Speakers in Higher Education’ research project. The workshop and seminar provided a forum in which multiple stakeholders in the teaching and learning of languages explored the extent to which drama techniques and practices can be helpful in and open up new ways to teach and learn languages.

Digital Labs: Exploring Good Practice

Information technology has provided many more tools to aid the learning process and enhanced the ability of the language teacher to produce high quality teaching resources. Most teachers have access to a personal computer with Word and PowerPoint installed resulting in much better handouts. The use of audio and video resources has created the possibilities of creating and implementing learning and teaching material in much more interactive formats, which can enhance and benefit learning.
