Hausa CALL

This project upgraded and modernised the existing Hausa Multimedia CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) Programme.

Hausa CALL are existing multimedia materials (sound, texts, graphics, animation) with interactive feedback for Hausa language learners mainly at BA level which are currently available for self-access to SOAS students.

The existing materials are platform specific and only run on old Mac OS9 systems. The project therefore made the materials platform independent and also improved various content features such as the interactive feed-back, text data, graphics and improved voice additions.

Products, Outputs & Outcomes

The revised materials are accessible online, through the Hausa Blackboard site and are available for autonomous distance use. The materials will be integrated into the new language lab, where digitized sound, multimedia and text material can be used in teaching and learning.
