3. Chungmori

Chungmori = 12/4, moderate 'walking pace', with accents on the ninth crotchet/quarter note.

Each measure sub-divides into four stressed beats, the first accented most strongly, and the period from the ninth note to the end functions as an elongated upbeat. Chungmori has a lighter mood and is more lyrical than Chinyangjo, and this is reflected in the favoured modal structures, which initially use what Kim described as the pedestrian kyongdurum, based on the sounds of the central region surrounding Seoul.
