The performance of North Indian raga music is spontaneous, within a highly structured traditional framework of melody and rhythm. It's also tied to the time of day, the seasons, and to the immediate relationship between musicians and their audience. Based in the United States and acclaimed for his performances around the world, David Trasoff is a senior disciple of the late maestro Ali Akbar Khan, with whom he studied sarode (an Indian stringed instrument) performance and North Indian classical music from 1973. Prabhu Edouard meanwhile, is regarded as one of the most versatile tabla players of his generation, having learned from renowned maestro Pandit Shankar Ghosh. For this concert, these two masters of their art will perform together and in the moment, taking you on a unique journey through North Indian raga.
