A Oca is an exciting new project led by Gaio de Lima, exploring the rhythms, melodies and dances from the Amazonian and Northern Brazilian folk traditions. The oca is a traditional indigenous Brazilian house, which is built collectively in around ten days using material from the jungle. This oca is the centre of the community and it is often home to many families. Taking this essence of community and simplicity, A Oca brings you the sounds of the Amazon and the beauty of Northeastern Brazil - and all that in Central London. Expect music in its purest form: pifano bamboo flutes and a healthy dose of Brazilian percussion - dancing is welcome!
