Kadialy Kouyaté is a songwriter and kora (West African 'calabash harp') player inspired by the West African griot repertoire. His Sound Archive ensemble features an outstanding group of London musicians who play original music inspired by the Mandinka griot tradition. Born into a great line of Kouyaté griots (hereditary musicians) from Southern Senegal, Kadialy’s mesmerising kora playing and singing style has been appreciated around the world. Since his arrival in the UK, he's played a significant part in enriching London’s global music scene and introducing people to what is one of Africa's most beautiful and complex instruments. He has also left an indelible mark at SOAS, having taught kora here for the last decade.
