The Pandeiro is one of the most popular music instruments played in Brazil. It is a frame drum used in different styles of Brazilian music as well as playing a role in Carnival. From basic to advanced level, this workshop will be specifically focused on different playing techniques for rhythms such as Samba, Baiao, Frevo and Funk. Students will also learn traditional songs which can be accompanied on the Pandeiro. With Adriano Adewale.

Adriano was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He started playing drums and percussion at the age of 15 and soon begun to work professionally with theatre groups and local musicians. After university, Adriano moved to London and has since performed in collaboration with Bob McFerrin, Antonio Forcione and Seckou Keita, among others. Adriano also holds an MMus in Music/Performance from SOAS, where he often performs with his own projects. [Artist website]
