Two titles edited by SOAS academics make Choice Magazine’s top picks for 2014

Two out of four titles selected by Choice Magazine as ‘Outstanding Academic Titles in the Humanities 2014’ are publications edited by SOAS academics.

Cultural Revolution in Iran: Contemporary Popular Culture in the Islamic Republic
, edited by Professor Annabelle Sreberny and Dr Massoumeh Torfeh, Centre for Media Studies and Warfare and Poetry in the Middle East, edited by Professor Hugh N Kennedy, Department of the Languages and Cultures of Near and Middle East were both announced as winning titles in a press release issued by publisher I.B Tauris in May.

Speaking about the recognition, Professor Sreberny said: “It’s always pleasing to have one’s work recognised and I hope the Choice recognition leads to more people reading about the amazing range of cultural production happening inside the Islamic Republic.”

Choice publishes a list of Outstanding Academic Titles that were reviewed during the previous calendar year. This prestigious list reflects the best in scholarly titles reviewed by Choice and brings with it the extraordinary recognition of the academic library community.
