Former SOAS Director, the late Professor Paul Webley, awarded Order of Diplomatic Service Merit

The late Professor Paul Webley, Director and Principal of SOAS University of London from August 2006 to September 2015, has been awarded the Order of Diplomatic Service Merit by The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the UK.

The award is presented to foreign officials for significant contributions in strengthening friendly relations with the Republic of Korea. The rare honour is awarded to a small number of people every year and is one of the highest civilian awards of the Republic of Korea.

The award was presented to Julie Dawick, the wife of Professor Webley on 28 April.

Professor Paul Webley passed away on 2 March 2016.
