SOAS School of Law celebrated the high achievements of this year’s undergraduate prize winners at a Prize Winners’ Reception on the 19th July 2016. Family and friends, School of Law staff and alumni were present at the event hosted by Professor Carol Tan, the Head of the School of Law and Professor Mashood Baderin, the incoming Undergraduate Programmes Convener.

This year’s prizes included prizes donated by alumni (Benjamin Ng, LLB, 2013, and Elliot Chong Aruldoss, LLB, 2014). Mr and Mrs Geoffrey Spells presented Timothy Little with the Sarah Spells Prize for Best Performance in Independent Study Project, a prize in memory of their daughter Sarah who was our much loved SOAS Law Librarian.

Professor Mashood Baderin, Dr Vivienne Bradwell, Ms Gail Price and Mr Mayur Suresh also presented prizes to the students. Five students won multiple prizes. Camden Goetz took away the prizes for the Best First Year Performance, Law of Contracts, and Law and Society in Asia and Africa. Similarly, Aliya Al-Yassin won the prizes in Public Law, Islamic Law and Best Intermediate Years Performance. Felix Goh, one of the two Best Final Year prize winners also won prizes for Intellectual Property Law and Commercial Law. Taqbir Huda was Joint Best Final Year performer and also won the prize for the Equity and Offshore course. Hashem Wael Hijjawi who graduates from our Senior Status LLB programme won prizes for Best Finalist in the Senior Status LLB, for Law of Tort and Criminal Law. “It is particularly pleasing to see that we have students of such high calibre in our Senior Status LLB. This programme was introduced by my predecessor, Mr Paul Kohler, only a few years ago” said Professor Carol Tan, Head of the School of Law. The School of Law looks forward to seeing its students at the graduation ceremonies next week.
