SOAS University of London has risen among the world’s elite institutions with thirteen of its subject areas across a broad range of disciplines ranked among the world’s best up from 11 subjects in 2016 and 9 in 2015.
Development Studies at SOAS is now ranked in the world’s top 10 at 7th (up from 11th). SOAS also ranks within the world’s top 40 in six other subject areas – Geography; Anthropology; Theology, Divinity & Religious Studies; Archaeology; History; and Politics and International Studies. These seven subjects at SOAS are also all now ranked in the top 10 in the UK.
SOAS has also risen in the world ranking of its overall subject areas – with Arts & Humanities up to 39th and Social Sciences and Management just above the top 200.

The 2017 QS rankings survey more than 4,400 institutions across the world and rank over 1,100 in its subject listings.
