The SOAS Brunei Gallery exhibition on the architectural heritage of Yemen, curated by Trevor H.J. Marchand, Emeritus Professor of Anthropology at SOAS University of London, will open this week at the MAO Museum of Oriental Art, via San Domenico 11, Turin, Italy. The Museum holds over 2,000 works from Asia, with its fourth floor mainly dedicated to art of the Islamic countries.

"Buildings That Fill My Eye" Architectural Heritage of Yemen, explores the astonishing variety of building styles and traditions that have evolved over millennia in a region of diverse terrains, extreme climates and distinctive local histories. Yemen possesses one of the world’s finest treasure-troves of architecture and three of its ancient cities – Shibam, Ṣanaa and Zabid – are UNESCO’s World Heritage sites
The exhibition is supported by SOAS University of London, London Middle East Institute, SOAS (LMEI), MBI Al Jaber Foundation, Gingko Library and The British-Yemeni Society.
