MA International Studies & Diplomacy student, Michelle Ribeiro Silva of CISD SOAS has been selected for the prestigious inaugural Future Diplomats Peace Game in Abu Dhabi, which is funded by the government of the UAE. Michelle has been selected from amongst 250 applicants from across the world to take part in a 'gamification' exercise alongside Diplomacy professionals, to explore seemingly intractable issues and to propose radical solutions in a simulated environment with an over-arching emphasis on peace and conflict resolution as opposed to more traditional notions of 'war games'. This years' event in Abu Dhabi focuses on Cyber Warfare. Michelle will be acting as a diplomat in this exercise to give her 'real' experience of a diplomatic environment. 20 students are selected in total through a competitive application process. This is the first time SOAS has entered students, and have been successful on our first attempt due to the quality of our MA ISD cohort.
CISD is proud that Michelle has been selected out of a considerable number of applications and will be a direct participant.
