12 December 2017
SOAS School of Law’s Dr Lolwa Alfadhel organised a class excursion to the UK Supreme Court for undergraduate law students on the 7th of December 2017. The students’ visit consisted of an interactive introductory talk given by one of the Information Officers at the Supreme Court, Simon Josiffe.
The visit also included time in the educational exhibition area and the opportunity for our students to observe an appeal hearing which involved a Trusts case. Simon Josiffe also discussed three landmark decisions decided by the Supreme Court and it was met with enthusiasm and fascination by students.
The trip was useful in making students think more about practical applications of the law they are studying, rather than just the theory. There will be more trips to various courts planned for Term 2.
