1 of about 95 "Women and the Origins of the United Nations - a Southern Legacy" event at UNHQ

29 May 2018

Elise Dietrichson and Fatima Sator just returned from New York after a wonderful event organized by the Brazilian mission to the UN in New York.

Overall, 200 people from UN Missions, NGOs, civil society, academia etc attended the event.  Speakers at the event included the Permanent Representative from Colombia, India, Pakistan, Uruguay, Ghana, South Africa, Brazil and the SG Chef de Cabinet.

Elise and Fatima met with USG Alison Smale, ASG Jane Connors and are trying to meet with DSG Amina Mohammed. Everyone told them that this was a first in the UN history. According to the people they met, no such event acknowledging the Southern contribution to Human Rights had ever been organized before.
