Since January 2018, the Department of History has collaborated with OCR (Oxford Cambridge RSA) to develop an online portal for A-Level teaching materials In June 2018, the first module, ‘From Colonialism to Independence: The British Empire 1857-1965,’ released. Now, we are happy to announce that the next module— titled ‘The Cold War in Asia: 1945-1993’ —is available for free access at soashistoryresources.co.uk.
This module builds upon our commitment to open-source education first developed in the British Empire course. Like the previous course, ‘The Cold War in Asia’ lists brief outlines to key historical issues, alongside a wide range of both online and print sources. Taken together, these resources can help teachers formulate their own lesson plans and substantiate in-class learning with accessible take-home media.
The Department will continue to improve the portal upon feedback. It represents another important step in the Department’s engagement with, and contributions to, secondary education across Britain.
Any inquiries about the portal can be sent to Laith Shakir (email@example.com).
