A book by Dr Veli Yadirgi, scholar in the Department of Development Studies at SOAS University of London, has been chosen for the Choice 'Outstanding Academic Titles' 2018.
The Political Economy of the Kurds of Turkey: From the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic has been selected for the prestigious Choice Outstanding Academic Titles 2018, published by the US-based Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a list which features the finest academic publications for titles reviewed during the previous year.
The list is quite selective: it contains approximately 10% of some 6,000 works from all academic disciplines reviewed in Choice each year. Choice editors base their selections on the reviewer's evaluation of the work, the editor's knowledge of the field, and the reviewer's record. The list was known as Outstanding Academic Books until 2000.
The Political Economy of the Kurds of Turkey: From the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic examines the socioeconomic and political structures and transformations of the Kurdish people from the Ottoman era through to the modern Turkish Republic, arguing that there is a symbiotic relationship between the Kurdish question and the de-development of the predominantly Kurdish domains.
