SOAS Graduates Perl Li and Giulia Mengato awarded Second Prize for the EATS Taiwan Studies Dissertation Award

The SOAS Centre of Taiwan would like to congratulate SOAS Graduates Perl Li and Giulia Mengato, who have been awarded Second Prize for the European Association of Taiwan Studies Dissertation Award.

Perl and Giulia Award

Both dissertations provide a welcome addition to the field, dealing with fascinating questions towards Taiwanese development and society. Perl's topic involved “Engaging the Public: What Can Taiwan Tourism Learn from the Sunflower Movement,” whilst Giulia's examined “Government support or private investment? Developing community-based tourism on Taiwan’s East coast.”

Perl and Giulia have been incredibly active across our Taiwan Studies courses and events throughout their time at SOAS, making all of us at the Centre especially proud of their well-deserved awards. You can visit the EATS Newsletter for more information on the awards and to view Perl and Giulia’s abstracts.
