CISD Director Dr Dan Plesch and Doctoral Student Kevin Miletic publish a chapter on humanitarian disarmament in new book on global activism

22 November 2019

CISD Director Dr Dan Plesch and Doctoral Student Kevin Miletic publish a chapter on humanitarian disarmament in new book on global activism.

The book, edited by Matthew Bolton, Sarah Njeri and Taylor Benjamin-Britton analyses the politics of the humanitarian disarmament community - a loose coalition of activist and advocacy groups, humanitarian agencies and diplomats - who have successfully achieved international treaties banning landmines, cluster munitions and nuclear weapons, as well as restricting the global arms trade.

The article by Dr Plesch and Kevin Miletic emphasises the similarities between United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Gutterres' new disarmament agenda, and the General & Completement Disarmament movement of the twenty-first century.

More information on the book is available here.
