Hello from the SOAS History Blog,

After our summer break and the start of the academic year, the SOAS History Blog is proud to host our first event of the 2021/22 year: SOAS History Blog Black History Month Authors' Panel which will be hosted in a blended format this coming Thursday 21 October 5-6:30pm in MB 4429. Come hear our featured authors for Black History Month speak about their upcoming publications. Each contributor will give an introduction to their piece, and participants will then have a chance to engage in a broader discussion about Black History Month with our speakers. Speakers for the evening will include:

  • Amelia Storey: 'The Menopausal Matriarchs of West Africa'
  • Saffa Khalil: 'Can we hear the Past: Sudanese History through Music' (podcast)
  • Wayne Dooling: 'Do we need a Black History Month?'
