Simon O"Meara awarded prestigious Iran World Book Award

30 March 2022

We are thrilled to announce that Dr Simon O"Meara - Senior Lecturer in the History of Architecture & Archaeology of the Islamic Middle East - has received a prestigious award for his recent publication 'The Ka’ba Orientations: Readings in Islam’s Ancient House' (Edinburgh University Press, 2020). This landmark monograph is, remarkably, the first book-length exploration of the most sacred site of Islam, the Kaʿba, in a Western language. Each chapter pursues a different aspect of the Kaʿba, presenting new findings and arguments with extensive illustrations that include a number of rarely reproduced images.
