SOAS among world's best for attracting international talent

9 June 2022

SOAS University of London continues to be in the world's top 50 universities when it comes to attracting international talent. The Bloomsbury-based institution is listed 33rd globally for how well it attracts international students and 49th for attracting top academic staff.

The QS World Rankings 2023 is an annual publication of university rankings and is among the most widely read university rankings in the world. This specific 'internationalism' measure looks at the International Faculty Ratio, which measures the proportion of non-domestic faculty at an institution and the International Student Ratio, which measures the proportion of non-domestic students at an institution.

SOAS Director Adam Habib said:

"This is great news for SOAS and proves that we are continuing to build a reputation for excellence across the globe despite the challenges of the past few years with the pandemic and what that has meant for international students. We are committed to ensuring that all our students receive the best education and experience during their time here and we are proud that the university continues to strive to be among the best on the world stage. We do this by attracting the best students and academics, as well as promoting a culture of excellence in everything we do."

The news follows recent achievements of SOAS being named among the world-leading institutions in the QS World University Rankings by subject 2022, in which Development Studies ranks 2nd in the world and in the UK; Anthropology at 10, Politics at 15 and History, English Language & Literature, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies and Sociology - all in the top 100 in the world!
